MODERN AND MINIMALIST: A SMART HOTEL-STYLE APARTMENT

It was clear to Benjamin Attali from the sketch stage that a smart home system would be installed in this apartment. In a personal interview on the blog, he talks about the design advantages of the switches and the most useful scenario for the tenants, who requested a design inspired by a hotel.

A look at the nature of the project: scope, concept, design style, choice of materials, and more.

“This is a project in a modern, minimalist style, for the clients who had two main requests: to feel like they were living in a hotel, and not to leave any area unused. I designed wall coverings in many locations and with the help of excellent carpentry we created a luxurious atmosphere, while integrating functions and systems hidden behind it. In addition, there was It’s important to me to bring the outside in: I did this by using an 11-meter-long power wall covered with black stone, which was partly inside the house and partly on the balcony, which creates a sense of blurring between the inside and the outside and contributes to the luxurious atmosphere and a harmonious and elegant space.”

At what stage of the project was it decided to go for a smart home?

“Right from the sketch stage. It was important to me that the smart home system be taken into account from the first moment.”

What are the reasons you chose Vitrea’s smart home system?

“For me, the system itself meets all the requirements in a fast and good way. The significant advantage for me as a designer is the diverse design options of the panels and the ability to “play” with them as needed in the space: recessed in the zero line or installed with a floating mirror, different colors, lengthwise or horizontally, and more. Beyond that, The work process runs, and everything is done precisely, from the beginning to the end of the project.”

Why a smart home? What is its added value to everyday life and the residential experience?

“In the case of this project, we are talking about Shabbat-observant customers, and the variety of solutions that Vitrea offers for them is enormous. For example, one of the situations we created is “locking the keys” so that on Shabbat you cannot accidentally get confused and turn on the light, it really changes their lives. In addition, this project has direct connection to air conditioners and underfloor heating with the help of smart thermostats, and this really improves the quality and style of life.”

Tell us what is the most useful and practical scenario in the family home?

“The exit scenario we did. It actually turns off the whole house but leaves the light next to the door on for us just in time to leave the house. After that it turns off automatically. It’s very useful and also economical.”

What are your tips for planning a smart home?

“First of all understand what the customers’ needs are. Then map all the systems that will be in the house: air conditioning, fireplace, underfloor heating and more, and finally plan together with Vitrea the optimal system that synchronizes everything and controls everything.”
