RUSTIC-INDUSTRIAL DESIGN ALONGSIDE A SMART ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: THE MAGICAL FARMHOUSE

Rural and industrial touches alongside an advanced smart home system > Designer Nirit Frenkel is a guest on our blog and talks about what led to the decision to choose a smart electrical system, and how the switches fit into the design concept of the magical farmhouse she planned.

Tell us about the nature of the project, in terms of scope, concept, design style, material choices, etc.

“It’s a farmhouse with industrial and rustic touches. About 400 square meters are built on two levels built topographically to the cliff on which the building sits. The main material that leads and accompanies the design concept at various levels is iron. In addition, we also made extensive use of wood in the ceilings and floor in order to create a warmer atmosphere, and extensive use of textiles and materials that give a ‘cozy’ and family feeling.”

At what stage of the project was it decided to go for a smart home, and what did it require of you at the level of planning the electrical plans?

“We decided on the introduction of a smart home system already at the work plan stage. The desire to create scenarios in which the home works for customers automatically is what led to the decision to make a smart home. At the design level, the very fact that we decided to make the electrical system smart required almost no change from me. Vitrea carried out all the required characteristics and created scenarios tailored to the needs of the customers. We just planned and designed the location of the lighting fixtures and other end products, in order to get the feeling we wanted in the spaces.”

Why a smart home? What is its added value to daily life and the living experience?

“We see smart home as an added value that is mandatory today in new construction. Private buildings today consist of a large number of lighting circuits, and separations between technical and decorative lighting. The amount of lighting and the desire to create different atmospheres, as well as the load of the systems – require us to work with smarter systems that will solve aesthetic failures and ease our conduct at home.”

What are the reasons you chose Vitrea smart electricity?

“We chose Vitrea for a number of reasons. First, the desire to give up the massive electrical panels that characterize wired smart electricity (we chose a full wireless smart electrical system, VTouch Pro). Second, the clean and refined aesthetics of the panels that allow them to be integrated into the design of the space. Third, the flexibility of the system that gave us the opportunity to build a smart package that is directly tailored to the customer and the specific needs of his daily routine at home.”

What is the most useful scenario in the family home?

“Day and night scenarios that allow us to work with the shading, air conditioning and lighting systems simultaneously and with one click, instead of going around the house and switching a switch to turn on

Finally, share with us your tips for planning a smart home.

“The most important tip I have to give about smart electricity is to collaborate with the supplier’s ideas when it comes to home scenarios. We are not always as aware of daily life as the planner, who lives the subject of scenarios and lights and can significantly improve the conduct and living experience in the customer’s daily life.”
